Culturally-centred mental wellbeing care in the pharmaceutical industry

MSD, a global biopharmaceutical company, first had its presence in Singapore in 1993 and the Asia Pacific headquarters was set up in 2007.
Mental health is a global concern, yet the level of support found in Asian countries widely varies. Stigma still exists and cultural factors sometimes come into play. Intellect was an easy application to use with all the different features.

The Problem

Already having access to a US-based mental wellbeing solution and an existing EAP, MSD saw a low uptake in its usage especially among their colleagues based in Singapore.

The Solution

By having full access to Intellect’s self-care app, 1-1 behavioural coaching sessions, live webinar credits, and 24/7 distress helplines, MSD has raised awareness on mental health and wellbeing practices among their employees.

Results

After completion of their pilot:

  • 75% want to keep Intellect as a permanent benefit under MSD’s offerings
  • 84% employees reported that leadership prioritises their wellbeing
  • 48% adoption rate after the first 3 months of Intellect rollout
