Putting People First: How THG Built a Culture of Trusted Wellbeing

Tregoning Hobbs Group (THG) manages a diverse community of over 1,000 people across Australia. This case study explores their journey of moving away from traditional EAP models to create a support system that their team truly values.
We needed a solution employees would truly engage with and that could reach across the diversity of our workforce. I wanted more than a tick-box approach to how we support staff with their mental wellbeing.
-Bakhita / THG’s Head of People & Culture

The Problem

With a team spanning hotel floors, kitchens, and retirement villages, THG’s staff are always on the move. Traditional wellbeing support often felt out of reach during busy shifts or in regional locations. THG recognised that to genuinely support their people, they needed an EAP as dynamic and diverse as their workforce.

The Solution

THG partnered with Intellect to offer support that respects the everyday reality of frontline work. This was about ensuring every person had a safe, private space to turn to, regardless of their role or location.

– Anytime Access: Support via text, video, or phone to suit any schedule
– Holistic Care: Clinical counselling paired with proactive coaching for fitness and finance
– Regional Privacy: A trusted, anonymous space for staff in regional communities

Results

It has been encouraging to see how the THG team has embraced this new partnership. The data suggests that when wellbeing support is accessible and inclusive, people feel more comfortable reaching out.

  • 10.9% Utilisation: A significant step above the 1% to 5% industry EAP average
  • 67% Repeat Users: Evidence that the team finds ongoing value in the care provided
  • 4.83/5 Rating: High satisfaction across all coaching and counselling services
